Participants studying their mapsThe Youth Venture Project assists in organising and supervising creative, challenging expeditions for young people between the ages of 15 and 26 in the Dublin area. We provide specialist equipment, supervision, emergency care, advice and training to young people, schools and community groups. In particular we engage with schools and community groups in designated disadvantaged areas of Dublin to tackle social exclusion, marginalization and oppression of young people by encouraging young people to become involved in developing their interpersonal, social and communication skills, providing a sense of achievement, building self-confidence, and teaching responsibility through venture activities. Our leader’s civilian backgrounds included working as special needs assistants, paramedics, teachers, coaching youth sports clubs, instructing on survival courses, working and working with groups such as Youthreach, NCBI and NIID.
